Complete & Partial Dentures
A denture is a removable dental appliance that is used to replace missing teeth in an arch (upper or lower). A complete denture replaces all of the upper or lower teeth, and a partial denture is used for tooth replacement when some, but not all of the teeth are missing in an arch.

Natural-Looking Custom Dentures
If you are a denture wearer, you may have firsthand experience with the challenges of trying to eat or speak with an ill-fitting, unattractive denture. Our dentists work closely with our patients and our dental laboratory to design custom dentures that fit properly and look naturally beautiful.
Our Denture Process
Our dentists will begin your denture analysis with a complete dental examination and necessary dental x-rays to evaluate your overall oral health. If you currently wear a denture, the doctor will look at your soft tissue, palate and bone height to determine what structural or material changes might need to be made in your new denture.
If you have multiple teeth that must be extracted, we will talk with you about dental surgery; we may refer your case to an oral surgeon and work closely with them to complete your denture.
Your dentist will talk with you and show you photos of other dentures to create design goals for your custom denture. If you have photos of your smile that you would like to share with us, feel free to bring them along. Together, we will choose the shade and shape of the denture teeth, complimented by pink ‘gum’ shading with texturing to resemble natural soft tissue.
To design your denture, we will scan the upper and lower dental arches using digital imaging technology to create a set of digital study models. Our digital ‘impressions’ do not require messy impression putty, making the process much faster and more comfortable. Your dentist will send your images with detailed instructions to the dental laboratory to use in the production process for your new denture.
Dentures usually involve a sequence of try-in and follow up appointments at our Dalton dental practice to make sure you are pleased with the fit and appearance. Our dentists can also coordinate your treatment so that you can receive an immediate or temporary denture following extractions, so you don't have to stop smiling during the denture treatment process.
Denture Materials
Complete and partial dentures are made from a combination of resin acrylic materials, porcelain or metal. Our dentists and dental laboratory will recommend the best materials to provide you with a durable, well-fitting denture.
Dental Implants & Dentures
Dental implants are often used to stabilize complete and partial dentures. Complete upper dentures typically develop a natural suction with the palate, but lower full dentures have a tendency to loosen when biting or chewing. Partial dentures can sometimes ‘rock’ with biting pressure.
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is inserted into the jaw; dental implants are used to secure dental crowns, bridges and dentures. Multiple dental implants can be placed in the jaw to attach to a complete or partial denture and lock it firmly in place.

Dental CT Imaging
Our dentists use dental CT scanning technology (CBCT) to evaluate the jaw bone and joints and provide recommendations on your denture design, as well as how fit and performance might be improved with dental implants.
