Your Family's Oral Health is Important
Family Dentistry in Dalton
We enjoy seeing adults and children from Dalton, Chattanooga and the surrounding North Georgia and bordering Tennessee communities in our local family dental practice. If you are looking for a friendly and caring dental team to provide general and cosmetic dentistry for you and your loved ones, we encourage you to give us a try!
Preventive Dentistry
The most important part of dental treatment is prevention of disease before it begins. Our dentists, Dr. Frank Patterson and Dr. Weston Hughes, recommend that our patients visit our office every 3–6 months for a routine checkup, preventive teeth cleaning and periodontal (gum health) maintenance.
At this visit, we will take any necessary digital x-rays and your dentist will perform a thorough dental examination to evaluate the condition of your teeth and jaw joints. We may recommend fluoride treatments or dental sealants for your child to help prevent tooth decay. Read more about “Why do I need dental x-rays?”
Our dentists and dental hygienists will also examine and measure your gums to look for signs of periodontal (gum) disease as part of your preventive care routine. Without intervention, periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss and infection.

Treatment of Dental Problems
An advantage of regular visits to the dentist is the early detection of oral health problems such as tooth decay, abscess, infection, excessive tooth wear, or loss of jaw bone. As part of your periodic dental exam, your dentist will look for early warning signs of issues that may require treatment.
Our dentists and team are committed to making sure you are well informed about your dental health. If you or a family member require any dental procedures (filling, crown, root canal or tooth extraction), we will talk with you about options and expected costs to develop a plan for your care.
Dental Emergencies
If you have a dental emergency or are experiencing any extreme tooth pain, infection or swelling, please contact us right away. These conditions can worsen and become a very serious health emergency, especially for children. For after-hours dental emergencies, please call our main phone number for instructions 706.278.2553.

Oral Cancer
Oral cancer is a life-threatening disease that is usually not noticeable until it has progressed to an advanced stage; regular visits to the dentist can help with early detection. Your dentist will examine the oral soft tissue, palate, cheeks, tongue and lips to look for suspicious lesions that may be cancerous.
